Alain Bergeron M.Sc.
President and Chief Investment Officer, iA Global Asset Management
Alain is responsible for the management and oversight of iA’s assets, including the insurer’s general funds as well as the company’s investment funds. He has more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry. During his 11-year tenure at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, he held several senior leadership and portfolio management positions, covering a wide range of asset classes and global portfolios. Prior to joining iA in 2019, he was Senior Vice-President and Portfolio Manager at Mackenzie Investments, where he was responsible for asset management exceeding $20B in value.
Alain brings a rare combination of leading institutional asset-management expertise and thorough understanding of the wealth-management industry. Following his Bachelor in Finance and Quantitative Methods, he earned a Master in financial engineering at HEC Montréal. He holds CFA and CMT (Chartered Market Technician) designations. His research has been published in The Journal of Portfolio Management, the MIT Sloan School of Management Research Paper Series, and The Journal of Alternative Investments. Between 2015 and 2019, Alain was the Chair of the WealthSimple Investment Advisory Committee.
